We will discuss the findings of a new book based on a 2-year study of Nevada prostitution and trafficking which was sponsored by the Trafficking in Persons Office of the U.S. State Department. 5 survivors of prostitution who are involved in helping women in Nevada escape prostitution will discuss Nevada prostitution and trafficking. Candice Jordan will discuss the launch of a new organization: Nevada Coalition against Sex Trafficking.

Throughout our presentations, we'll be making the connections between legal and illegal prostitution, prostitution and sex trafficking, advertising for prostitution, political corruption, pornography, and organized crime. We'll also discuss johns - the economic and social drivers of sex trafficking.
What effect does Nevada's prostitution culture have on all women in the state? A Nevada rape crisis counselor explained, “Men think they can get away with rape here.” According to an FBI Uniform Crime report, women are 3 times as likely to be raped in Las Vegas as they are in New York City.
