Girls Give Back “Teens Advocating for Gender Equality” Conference

April 26, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Jewish Family Service – Girls Give Back “Teens Advocating for Gender Equality” Conference on April 26 from 2-5pm or 3-6pm (tbd)

Girls Give Back is designed to address the challenges faced by Jewish young women in San Diego by engaging them in meaningful, self-directed, and ongoing service learning and leadership development activities.   This conference is offered to teens from across San Diego and they will learn about three current issues that impact women in our community. Next, they will receive training and skills to create social change around their topic. Each participant will leave with increased knowledge of gender issues, a connection to like-minded peers, and a completed piece of work that advocates for social change.  This event is free and open to any high school teen in grades 9-12 in San Diego. Young men are also encouraged to attend! An early dinner will be provided.

They are looking for speakers on the following topics: Human Trafficking, Sexual Assault on College Campuses, and Pay Equity.  They are also looking for an elected official (preferably a woman) to serve as the keynote speaker.

For more information, or if you are interested in speaking on HT, or one of the other topics, or you have suggestions for speakers, please contact Lily Greenberg at lgreenbergcall@gmail.com
