Free
On Thursday, December 1, 2016, the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice and the San Diego-based organization Breaking the Silence Together will host an event to raise awareness about human sex trafficking – “Walk in their Shoes: Standing with Survivors of Sex Trafficking”. In addition to drawing attention to the problem, the event will provide a platform for victims to share their stories and an opportunity for community members to learn about ways to support victims and the organizations working to prevent trafficking and promote healing. The event will feature: a visual art exhibit; a panel discussion including victims, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and academics; a short theater presentation; music; a reception and candle lighting ceremony; and an exhibition of San Diego community organizations working on this issue.
