Prostitution Research and Education

Prostitution Research & Education (PRE) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that conducts research on prostitution, pornography and trafficking and offers education and consultation to researchers, survivors, the public and policymakers. PRE’s goal is to abolish the institution of prostitution while at the same time advocating for alternatives to trafficking and prostitution – including emotional and physical healthcare for women in prostitution. The roots of prostitution are in the assumption that men are entitled to buy women for sex, in racism, and in women’s poverty.

Strategy

Focusing on providing knowledge and advocacy for good policy and the promotion of public awareness about the commercial sexual exploitation of women through prostitution, pornography and trafficking

  • Research: Conducting original cutting edge research on issues surrounding the commercial sexual exploitation of women by going to the source of the information—the men and women who involved in these systems of degradation
  • Public Education and Training: Providing materials and consultation to researchers, survivors, policymakers and the public on issues surrounding prostitution, pornography and trafficking.
  • Collaboration: Working with partner organizations and individuals to develop new research and to push for alternatives to trafficking and prostitution
  • Advocacy: Participating in campaigns on behalf of women and protesting harmful policies, practices and organizations. Providing analysis of legislation that will promote the rights of women and spur the abolition of prostitution
